Generating CEU Credits

The Generate CEU Credits tool in the CEU Module adds CEU Credits to customers based on their having a product purchase or event/session registration associated with CEU Credits through Product Credit and Event Credit setup, respectively.

To generate CEU Credits, complete the following steps:

  1. Expand the Module Menu and click the CEU hyperlink to open the CEU Overview page.
  2. Click the Generate CEU Credits hyperlink.This opens the Add - CEU Credit Generation pop-up window.
  3. Complete the following fields as needed:

    task type Yes This field is read-only and auto-populates with the type of task being scheduled. In this case, CEU Credit Generation is populated in this field.
    run task datetime Yes Click the run task datetime field to display the date / time picker. Choose the date and time you wish this task to run. Click the Now hyperlink to immediately put this task in the queue and have it run as soon as possible.
    execute after task No It is possible to string scheduled tasks together in NetForum. Expand the execute after task drop-down menu and select the scheduled task you would like the CEU Credit Generation task to run after.
    notify template No Expand the notify template drop-down menu and select the communication template that will be used to inform the designated user of the status of the CEU Credit Generation task.
    notify e-mail No Enter the email address of the desired recipient of the notification emails regarding this scheduled task.
    notify conditions No Click the check box(es) next to the updates you wish to be sent via email regarding the CEU Credit Generation task's progress.

  5. Click the Save button. Your task has been scheduled and a CEU Scheduled Task Profile has been created for this process.

CEU System Options

The following system options determine how the Generate CEU Credits tool awards CEU credit when you run the Generate CEU Credits process.

  • EventRecognizeCEU — This system option will track when CEUs for events and sessions will be recognized. Values include:

    • Sold - If set to sold, the CEU credit will be awarded when you run the Generate CEU credit process and the event has been purchased/registered for. NetForum will also check to make sure that the event or session registration has not been canceled or deleted, the individual or certificant has not been deleted, and - if invoiced - the invoice is not a proforma. Further, if the CalculateCEUMethod has been set to DuringCertificationTerm, the event registration dates will be checked to ensure that it occurred within the certificant's term before being granted.
    • Post-Event - If set to post-event, the CEU credit will be awarded when you run the Generate CEU credit process and the event end date has passed. Note: The event end date must be in the past. NetForum will also check to make sure that the event or session registration has not been canceled or deleted, and the individual or certificant has not been deleted. Further, if the CalculateCEUMethod has been set to DuringCertificationTerm, the event registration dates will be checked to ensure that it occurred within the certificant's term before being granted.
    • Attended - If set to attended, the CEU credit will be awarded when you run the Generate CEU credit process and the registration attendance flag on the certificant profile has been set to true. Note that the CalculateCEUMethod must NOT be set to Manually Assign for the attended option to work. netFORUM will also check to make sure that the event or session registration has not been canceled or deleted, and the individual or certificant has not been deleted. Further, if the CalculateCEUMethod has been set to DuringCertificationTerm, the event registration dates will be checked to ensure that it occurred within the certificant's term before being granted.
    • Manual - If set to manual, the Generate CEU credit process will assume that all CEU credits will be manually assigned.

    Note: This system option sets the default value for CEU credits generated for all events and sessions. The earned-on date setting for an individual event is also affected by the earn ceu on field in the Edit-Event Information form.

  • ProductRecognizeCEU — This will track when CEUs of purchases from merchandise, publications, and misc. products will be recognized. Values include:

    • Sold - If set to sold, the CEU credit will be awarded when you run the Generate CEU credit process and the product transaction date has passed. NetForum will also check to make sure that the individual/purchaser has not been deleted, and - if invoiced - the invoice is not a proforma. Further, if the CalculateCEUMethod has been set to DuringCertificationTerm, the transaction date will be checked to ensure that it occurred within the certificant's term before being granted. Note that CalculateCEUMethod must NOT be set to Manually Assign for the sold option to work. When awarded, the certificant's record will be updated with the credit type, number of credits, certification program, country, state, and region assigned to the product.
    • Paid - If set to paid, the CEU credit will be awarded when you run the Generate CEU credit process and the net total on the invoice has a balance of zero. NetForum will also check to make sure that the individual/purchaser has not been deleted, and - if invoiced - the invoice is not a proforma. Further, if the CalculateCEUMethod has been set to DuringCertificationTerm, the transaction date will be checked to ensure that it occurred within the certificant's term before being granted. Note that CalculateCEUMethod must NOT be set to Manually Assign for the paid option to work. When awarded, the certificant's record will be updated with the credit type, number of credits, certification program, country, state, and region assigned to the product.
    • Fulfilled - If set to fulfilled, the CEU credit will be awarded when you run the Generate CEU credit process and the fulfillment ship date for the product has passed. Further, if the CalculateCEUMethod has been set to DuringCertificationTerm, the transaction date will be checked to ensure that it occurred within the certificant's term before being granted. Note that CalculateCEUMethod must NOT be set to Manually Assign for the fulfilled option to work. When awarded, the certificant's record will be updated with the credit type, number of credits, certification program, country, state, and region assigned to the product.
    • Manual - If set to manual, the Generate CEU credit process will assume that all CEU credits will be manually assigned.
  • SubscriptionIssueRecognizeCEU — This will track when CEUs from subscription issues will be recognized. Values include:

    • Fulfilled - If set to fulfilled, the CEU credit will be awarded when you run the Generate CEU credit process and the shipping date has passed. Further, the subscription fulfillment end date must have also passed. netFORUM will also check to make sure that the subscription, product, or certificant has not been deleted. Further, if the CalculateCEUMethod has been set to DuringCertificationTerm, the shipping date will be checked to ensure that it occurred within the certificant's term before being granted. Note that CalculateCEUMethod must NOT be set to Manually Assign for the fulfill option to work. When awarded, the certificant's record will be updated with the product type, credit type, number of credits, certification program, earned date, country, state, and region assigned to the product.
    • Manual - If set to manual, the Generate CEU credit process will assume that all CEU credits will be manually assigned.
  • CalculateCEUMethod — This will track which credits count towards a certification program. Values include: During Certification Term, Include Prior Credits, Manually Assign, and No Certification Required

    Important! If you want to ensure that CEUs are only granted to certificants that are participating in a certification program, however, it is still recommended that you set CalculateCEUMethod to either During Certification Term, Include Prior Credits, or Manually Assign. No Certification Required should only be used if it is your intent to allow CEUs to be granted to certificants regardless of certification program status.

  • CalculateCEUIncludeSelfReported — This will track whether to include Self Report Credits in the calculation for the number of CEUs required in a certification program. This defaults to unchecked.
